Dassault Systèmes and Graebert GmbH Announce Technology Relationship
Graebert Teams with Dassault Systèmes to Deliver DraftSight 2D CAD Software
July 6th 2010 - Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced a technology relationship with Graebert GmbH, one of the pioneering companies in high-performance computer-aided design (CAD) solutions for desktop and mobile devices. Graebert worked with Dassault Systèmes to help deliver DraftSight, recently launched by Dassault Systèmes on June 22, 2010. The companies will work together to enhance the software based on customer feedback and response.
DraftSight, currently in public beta and available for free download at 3ds.com, is a 2D CAD product that provides users with a better way to read, write and share DWG files. Based on an advanced architecture, DraftSight generally takes a few minutes to download, runs on multiple operating systems, including Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 and is available for professional CAD users, students and educators.
DraftSight is based on Graebert’s acclaimed ARES Commander Edition software, announced in February 2010, with unique features and functionality that bring exceptional capabilities to their worldwide customers as well as the broader market, including students and educators.
“We selected Graebert as our technology development partner based on a number of different criteria, including the performance and feature set of the core ARES software,” said Aaron Kelly, senior director, DraftSight, Dassault Systèmes. “Working with Graebert, we have delivered software that will not only enable the DraftSight community to read, write and share DWG files, but to do so with a level of price-performance and features that will change how people use CAD.”
DraftSight users will have access to an open online community, accessible through DraftSight.com aimed at providing CAD users with access to new services and products and the ability to unlock valuable data stored in millions of DWG files.
Graebert developed ARES focusing on a number of core benchmarks, with performance being a leading criterion. The program has received global recognition and been noted for both its exceptional speed and feature set. ARES is the end result of more than five years of development by Graebert, one of the pioneers in CAD software development since 1983.
“We are very proud to have been selected by Dassault Systèmes – the undisputed world leader in 3D and PLM – to co-develop this 2D CAD product,” said Wilfried Graebert, CEO of Graebert GmbH. “DraftSight is a truly innovative solution combining an online community with an easy-to-use 2D CAD product designed to read, write and share DWG files. DraftSight is powered by ARES, which gives Dassault Systèmes customers the best next-generation 2D CAD solution.”
